As so far presented, however, the theory is radically incomplete. For it tells us only of the relation in the abstract of the mental to the physical. It gives us no account of the particularity of the human mind, and no idea of how we might individuate either the mind, or the body which is its ideatum. And without individuation the relation between mind and body is still in doubt. How, then, can we understand the separateness and individuality that is (in such cases) attributed to finite modes?
